Mountain goes POP

March 16 concert will feature music of film, television and Broadway

It will be a night to remember — to remember favourite old films, television shows and Broadway musicals, that is — when the Music Department at R.E. Mountain Secondary School  holds its eighth annual Spring POPs Concert on Wednesday, March 16.

The fundraising concert, under the musical direction of David Mills and Jen Williams, will feature the school’s bands and choirs performing popular film, TV, and Broadway music in an informal setting.

This year’s concert will also highlight the “music of England,” with hits from the Beatles, Monty Python, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Guests will be seated at candlelit tables to enjoy the catered full course roast beef (or chicken) dinner and gourmet desserts, along with the show (included with the price of admission). A limited number of dress circle tickets are available, which will reserve a front row table and deluxe seating.

There will also be many items on display at the silent auction tables.

Due to the success of last year’s concert, seating has been increased to accommodate more than 300 guests. Tickets will not be available at the door, so they must be purchased in advance at the school’s music room, or by phoning the school and placing an order at 604-888-3033.

Tickets are $20 ($10 youth/spaghetti dinner), or $25 for dress circle. All funds raised go directly to the Mountain Secondary music program. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
