The holiday season will be a whole lot brighter for 10 lucky locals thanks to the Downtown Langley Business Association’s second annual It’s Christmas Time in the City festivities!

The association is raffling 10 prizes of $1,000 Downtown Dollars each – enter often from now, right through Christmas Eve.

“The contest was so popular last year that we decided to bring it back for the second year. The prizes are awesome and it’s super easy to enter,” says Teri James, Downtown Langley Executive Director. “Plus, people really love supporting local!

With 44 retailers and restaurants participating in the holiday promotion, there’s something for everyone.

“Downtown Langley is so beautiful with all the Christmas lights and on Saturday, Dec. 9 and 16 from 1 to 3 p.m., carollers will stroll downtown, sharing the music of the season,” James says.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Make a purchase at any of the 44 participating Downtown Langley businesses;
  2. Write your name and number on the back of the duplicate receipt, and pop it in the ballot box located at every participating business;
  3. Enter as often as you like, at as many businesses as you like through Dec. 24 – there’s no minimum purchase;
  4. All 10 winners will be drawn on Jan. 5, 2024!

“My favourite part is seeing the thousands of receipts handed in by the businesses and calling the 10 lucky winners,” James says. “Sometimes they don’t believe me, which makes me smile, but once I tell them who I am and where they shopped, they are thrilled!”

Show your love for local

Beyond celebrating the holidays amid a beautifully decorated downtown setting, It’s Christmas Time in the City underscores the importance of supporting local businesses.

“Supporting local has never been more important than it is right now,” James notes. “Small businesses are the backbone of every community and their success means success for the community as a whole. Plus, when you support small businesses, you’re supporting the people who donate to charities and sports teams, give you that personal one-on-one customer service and bring you special items you won’t find anywhere else.”

And that means finding that just-right gift for everyone on your list is easy – and potentially rewarding!

“There’s so much to choose from in Downtown Langley – unique retail stores, delicious restaurants and a variety of service businesses ensure there’s something for everyone and everyone on your list,” James says. “Supporting local is very thoughtful gift-giving.”
