UPDATE: House, trailer destroyed by fire in Chilliwack

Heavy smoke, flames seen venting from multiple areas of Bonavista Street house on Fairfield Island

A house on Fairfield Island was destroyed by fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters from five different Chilliwack Fire Department halls responded to the blaze on Bonavista Street near Larter Avenue at about 3 p.m. on April 16.

The home suffered significant fire and smoke damage.”

A travel trailer that was parked in the driveway was also damaged by the fire.

People were home at the time of the fire and managed to safely exit the building. One occupant was assessed by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation.

Thirty-five firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. There were no firefighter injuries.
