A section of the Save On Foods mall on Fraser Highway is fenced and taped off to make way for a new Scotiabank building.

Site preparation is underway for the new 4,000 square foot financial facility at 20151 Fraser Hwy. The bank is expected to open within a year.

The bank is situated on popular bus routes and stops. It won’t have a drive-thru.

Currently, Scotiabank is located at 20555 56 Ave., It’s unclear if they will close that bank once the new branch is open or operate two branches in Langley City.

Across the street, work is well underway to complete the fire renovations at Paddington Station.

Built in 2009, with more than 200 condo units, the top floor of one of the buildings was destroyed by fire in December 2016, putting more than 100 people out of their homes at Christmas. The cause of the fire was determined to be a discarded cigarette.
