A Fort Langley family of four are $25,000 richer and five local charities are $25,000 better off thanks to a Preston GM $50,000 giveaway contest.

The Mitchell family won first place and $25,000 for their video “Our High Voltage Life” about the fun they are having owning a Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid car, which emits zero emmissions.

The contest started Jan. 3, 2017 when Preston’s ran a 50/50 style giveaway with $25,000 going to one lucky customer and $25,000 going to charity. The contest was open to any customer who purchased a new vehicle at Preston GM who then could submit a video of two minutes or less, showing what they love about their new vehicle.

A panel of judges selected the winning videos based on creativity and content.

Five local charities just received $5,000 each from Preston GM: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley, Salvation Army Gateway of Hope, the Ron Dunkley Memorial Society, Douglas Park Community School Society and Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The second place winning video received $2,000 for a Langley family who bought the electric car Chevy Bolt and third won $1,500 and fourth won $1,000

Last year, Preston GM won an award for selling the most electric vehicles in the province.
