Kourtney Kardashian and Reese Witherspoon will be welcoming a little bit of Langley into their nurseries as they bring their new babies home. Butterfly Kisses, an online baby boutique founded and operated by a local mom, has been selected as one of the few vendors to contribute to the baby baskets that are sent to the stars in anticipation of their special deliveries.

Stephanie Stumph, owner and operator of Butterfly Kisses, says the opportunity took her by complete surprise.

“Who would have thought that my little home-based business would take me to Hollywood?” Stumph asked.

“My only goal for Butterfly Kisses was to bring in enough income to enable me to stay at home with my babies. Now I am shipping daily to everywhere from Texas to England. It has taken on a life of its own.”

Butterfly Kisses is a line of handmade baby clothing, accessories and functional mommy tools inspired by Stumph’s personal experiences as a mother of two young children.

“I started making my own kids’ clothes, hair clips, sleep sacs and reusable snack bags as a creative outlet and a practical way to save some money,” explains Stumph.

“I would get compliments from complete strangers and friends would often chime in about starting my own business. So, when it came time to go back to work or figure out how to make being a stay-at-home mom a reality, it was a natural transition.”

Stumph has expanded her business from being strictly online to supplying baby boutiques and novelty stores. Butterfly Kisses is now available in stores in Langley, Chase Yellowknife, NWT as well as three stores in Ontario.

It was Butterfly Kisses Facebook page that caught all the attention, she says.

“I was absolutely floored when I received Black Diamond’s email requesting product for the celebrity baskets,” Stumph says. “Shows you how busy and out of touch I am as I hadn’t a clue that Reese Witherspoon was even pregnant,” she laughs.

But with Black Diamond Celebrity Gifting Division based out of Orange, MA, Stumph’s first question was, “how did you hear about little old us?”

It is obvious that social media is one of the most valuable resources for companies big and small, creating big opportunities for relatively small, home-based business like Butterfly Kisses.

Stumph designed custom baby items for both Kardashian, who welcomed baby girl Penelope in early July, and Witherspoon who is due later this summer. ‘I look forward to seeing my stuff on the pages of People once the photos of these new moms and babes start making their rounds,” Stumph adds with a laugh.

“Now wouldn’t that be a trip.”
