MLA Peter Fassbender, who oversees TransLink, will talk transit at a meeting hosted by the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce next week.

The May 17 dinner meeting will include a Regional Transportation Update, the chamber announced.

The panel will include Fassbender, a former Langley City mayor, TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond, and Louise Yako, president of the B.C. Trucking Association.

The panel will talk about transportation issues across the region.

TransLink is responsible for both public transit in the region, including buses and SkyTrain, along with the major road network, which includes some significant Langley streets.

It’s unclear at present how TransLink will fund future improvements.

“Join us and learn how the major road network pieces fit together and impact your business,” said chamber president Scott Johnston.

The dinner meeting is to take place in the Cascades Casino Resort Ballroom  with networking from 5-6:30 p.m. and dinner and presentations to follow.

The dinner event costs $35 for chamber members and $50 for non-members. Registration closes Friday at 5 p.m.
