Langley gyms join virtual club

In a fitness market dominated by large chains, 11 Lower Mainland independent gyms have joined together in a new initiative

In a fitness market dominated by large chains, 11 Lower Mainland independent gyms have joined together to offer a new fitness initiative to the public.

Virtual Gym Club, featuring Fitness Challenge (19889 96 Ave.) and Revolution MMA (20460 Langley Bypass) in Langley, is a flexible gym membership to make exercising possible for the busiest of individuals.

“With the rise of gym chains in the area, competition was only growing for the independent gyms,” said Riley Abreo, founder of Virtual Gym Club.

“By working together, independent gyms can take back some of the market while providing a new alternative for the public to get healthy. Consumers deserve flexibility and convenience when it comes to their gym membership.”

The online membership gives access to any independent gym in the network, and gym time can be booked with just a few clicks on a smart phone.

Virtual Gym Club is the third largest co-ed gym chain behind Steve Nash Fitness (20 locations) and Anytime Fitness (17 locations) for amount of locations in Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

“We want to make the gym process as easy as possible,” said Abreo.

“Too many times, these big corporations and businesses use pushy sales techniques and long term contracts to lock members in. Gym access should be convenient and affordable for any willing participant.

"At Virtual Gym Club, we make sure there are no hidden fees or long term contracts. We also wanted to establish an easy cancellation policy, so busy, professional people on the go can relocate as they see fit.”

With two locations in Langley, members also have access to independent gyms in Surrey, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Vancouver, Richmond, Mission, Chilliwack, Port Moody and Abbotsford.
