One of B.C.’s top 10 credit unions, G & F Financial Group is the latest company to announce it will settle in Willoughby Town Centre.

The credit union said it will bring its specialized blend of local banking and financial expertise to the thriving community.

The new branch, which is being built on 208 Street and 80 Avenue, will be in an 85,000 square foot development that will also include offices, retail, restaurants, and a grocery store.

The project is being developed by Qualico and construction is currently under way.

The target completion date is the fall of 2013.

“At G & F our members are also our owners and every business decision we make is meant to benefit them,” said co-CEO Jeff Shewfelt.

“We’ve always been committed to providing financial support and guidance to our members,” he said.

“With our Cloverdale branch located 13 km away, the new Langley site will offer added convenience and service, while giving us the opportunity to offer advice, expertise, and community support beyond our Surrey branch network.”

With more than 26,000 members, 12 branches, and more than $1 billion in assets, G&F has been on an aggressive plan of expansion.

In June, the locally based credit union launched a full service contact centre, The Member Hub, to offer members extended hours of service via telephone, mobile, and Internet.

In July, the credit union opened a 2,500 square foot state-of-the-art branch in Richmond. Construction is also under way on a flagship location at the heart of North Burnaby. It is scheduled to open this month.

“Our branch network plays a crucial role in reinforcing our commitment to our members and communities,” said co-CEO Bill Kiss.

“To support our growth, we’re making investments in technology, training and infrastructure to ensure our workplace, products and services continue to be one of the best in the industry.”

In February, G & F was recognized as one of B.C.’s top employers in offering an exceptional place to work.

Expansions are also about building stronger relationships with communities and Kiss and Shewfelt both agree that G & F’s greatest strength is its ability to build positive partnerships. These values remain a top priority for the credit union as it enters the next stage of its expansion plans.
