The Fort Langley community gathered last week for a party in honour of Jim Dyck and his wife Margo, the long-time owners of Frontier Building Supply Ltd.

It was a full house as community members gathered at the Fort Langley Community Hall to thank Jim and Margo Dyck and their family.

The residents gathered last Friday (June 17) to thank the long-time owners of Frontier Building Supply.

The Dycks provided the community with seven day a week service for 39 years.

The store, which was originally opened by Dyck’s parents in 1971, closed its doors for good on May 31.

The trend of the stories shared was that Frontier Building Supply was always a place people felt welcome and where no question was more important than another.

Jim Dyck also sat on the board of the Fort Langley Business Improvement Association. He was also heavily involved with the Cranberry Festival and other projects.

“Jim has been a steadfast example of the hard work and commitment to community that goes into creating a successful business,” said BIA president John Aldag.

“Our downtown is a different place now, but we have all been fortunate to work with and get to know Jim and Margo and their family over the years.  Fort Langley thanks them all for being a part of the last 39 years.”

“We are a relatively young organization and although we don’t have a great deal of history, Jim and Margo, you have played an important role in helping the BIA become what it is,”said Stan Duckworth, the BIA’s past president.

He then presented the Dycks with honourary life membership in recognition for their contributions to the Fort Langley BIA.
