Staff at a Langley oil change shop really want to smush a pie in their boss’s face, and hope the community will help make it possible.

This weekend, Mobil 1 Lube Express is running a three-day food drive to benefit Langley Food Bank, and if they can collect 1,000 pounds of food and $1,000 in cash donations, general manager Adam Coleman gets said pie in his face.

“We welcome donations of cash and non-perishable food items,” Coleman said, noting they’ll be offering contributing customers a 10 per cent off oil change services as a “token of appreciation.”

The food drive, aimed at helping feed families in need in Langley, runs Friday to Sunday, May 17 to 19.

“Our local food bank has experienced a significant surge in demand, with 60 new families seeking assistance in the past 60 days,” said Coleman, who noted the company will be contributing a portion of its weekend earning, as well.

“Consequently, they’re facing challenges in meeting the increased need for food and essentials. It’s time for us to unite and support our community!”

Mobil 1 is located at the intersection of 64 Avenue and 200 Street.

People can go online to learn what’s on the food bank’s current wishlist.
