The chief operating officer of Sources has been named a recipient of a 2016 BC Achievement Award.

On Tuesday, Sources’ CEO David Young was announced as one of the honorees, joining 29 others from across the province who are recognized as “British Columbians who go above and beyond in their dedication and service to others, and who devote time and energy to making their communities better.”

Sources Community Resource Centres — with offices in Langley, White Rock, Newton and Prince George — provides support to many in the community, and runs a food bank and a number of other social programs and services.

“It’s an honour to be included and recognized among such an incredible group of individuals in our province,” Young said in a release. “Receiving this award inspires and encourages me to continue my work in building health, safe and vibrant communities.”

In a letter supporting Young’s contributions, White Rock Mayor Wayne Baldwin wrote “I could not think of a more worthy recipient.”

Award recipients will be recognized at an official ceremony on May 25 in Victoria.

The BC Achievement Foundation is an independent foundation funded by the province.

This year’s award recipients were announced by Premier Christy Clark.
