Trinity Western University speaker series set to start

Power of face-to-face meetings first topic at new speaker series

Darcy Rezac will speak on the topic of the power of face-to-face networking in a digital world.

Rezac, a business leader and past maaging director of the Vancouver Board of Trade, is the first speaker for Trinity Western University’s School of Business Speaker Series.

The first event is Oct. 11.

“Research shows that face-to-face networking is in decline in our connected world,” said Rezac.

“People often say we are too busy to connect in-person, and many would rather connect electronically.

“Yet, it is almost impossible to develop the long-term trust required for success in business (and life) without face-to-face contact.”

A McGill science graduate and John Molson School of Business MBA, Rezac is an author, lecturer, adjunct professor and management consultant. A former business executive with Alcan and General Motors, he also served as a federal assistant deputy minister and, for 24 years, as managing director of The Vancouver Board of Trade.

He and his co-authors, Judy Thomson and Gayle Hallgren, have worked with more than 200 Fortune 500 and other companies, government agencies, universities and associations on three continents.

Their book, Work the Pond! was hailed ‘The Connector’s Handbook’ by Town & Country. It has been published in Canada, the US, China, Korea and Russia.

Rezac will speak from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Northwest Auditorium on the Trinity campus.

Tickets are $50 and are available at twu.ca/speakerseries.

TWU School of Business is the second-highest rated business program in Canada, after Queen’s University, and the top in B.C.
