Hannu Ylanko, Vice President, National Sales, Mercedes-Benz Canada, The Honourable Peter Fassbender, Langley City Mayor, Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, Ajay Dilawri, President of the Dilawri Group of Companies, and Christian Dubois, Regional Director of Operations, Dilawri Group of Companies, gathered today to celebrate the official start of construction of Langley Mercedes-Benz

The groundbreaking for luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has taken place.

The company’s new retail facility is the latest addition to Collections, the auto mall at Glover Road and Langley Bypass.

The Sept. 6 groundbreaking was attended by Tim A. Reuss, Mercedes-Benz Canada’s president and CEO, City Mayor Peter Fassbender, and Ajay Dilawri, president of the Dilawri Group of Companies.

Occupying 3.8 acres site at the busy corner opposite Kwantlen Polytechnic University, the expansive 46,500 square foot building will be an ideal home for the Mercedes-Benz, AMG and Smart brands in Langley. In addition, the dealership is also ideally situated to serve the growing after-sales, parts and accessories needs of customers in the region.

The design and layout of the new structure will follow the proprietary Mercedes-Benz “Autohaus” concept, which guarantees a consistent brand identity for each dealership in the company’s cross-Canada network. For example, the open concept, 16,600 square foot showroom will incorporate the trademark widespread use of glass to maintain transparency and create a bright and airy feeling throughout the display area.

The large service area encompasses nearly 10,000 square feet, and will offer 16 state-of-the-art bays, including two oversized bays to accommodate the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Furthermore, a separate, dedicated area with the capacity to accommodate up to five cars at once will help streamline the process for new and pre-owned vehicle deliveries.

The construction of Langley Mercedes-Benz represents a $9.5 million dollar investment that will create jobs and help boost the economy in the region. Plans for the new building were developed by Kasian Architecture, and the project is being managed by Ledcor.

Construction is expected to be complete by next spring.

“I’m delighted to welcome the Mercedes-Benz dealership to our community and to the Fraser Valley,” Fassbender said.

“I believe that its location is ideal This is just one more economic boost for our community, and another step in making the City of Langley ‘The Place To Be’.”
