Denni Bonetti was installed as president of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s 80th annual general meeting on Tuesday.
Bonetti, who works with her husband Carlo at their family business, Bonetti Freezer Meats, takes over from Milt Kruger of Online Collision, who has served as president for the past year.
First vice-president is Angie Quaale of Well Seasoned. Second vice-president is Jeremy East of BDO Canada, and secretary-treasurer is Kristine Simpson of KPMG.
District directors are Jamie Moi for Langley City; Viviane Barber for North Langley; Danielle Nelson for South Langley and Michelle Chandra for Aldergrove.
Serving as directors at large for the coming year are Brian Dougherty, Linda Harkinson, Tony Malyk, Sharon Newberry, Mary Reeves and Scott Waddle.
In her first speech as president, Bonetti said the new board will work to improve efficiencies and make the best use of board members’ time, a process started under Kruger’s leadership. She also noted that he had been elected as a director of the B.C. Chamber at that organization’s recent annual meeting in Prince George.
“My personal goal is to improve the chamber’s participation at all levels of government, to ensure that business voices are heard,” she said.
She also emphasized the importance of working closely with other chambers in the region.
Outgoing president Kruger noted that several Langley resolutions were included as policy at the B.C. Chamber’s AGM — resolutions on return of the business vote, the Aldergrove border crossing and assured sources of transportation funding.
