Some new arrivals provided preschoolers at the Walnut Grove Community Centre with some hands-on learning.
The children, students at the Kids Incorporated licensed preschool, incubated baby chicks as part of the Grade Eh Egg Farm’s new hatching program.
“They went from keeping the eggs warm and turning them each day to holding live baby chicks,” said Township of Langley preschool instructor Danica Scott.
“They were so excited.”
It took 21 days for the birds to hatch.
The chick hatching is one of many activities for children aged three and four offered by Township of Langley Licensed Preschools at Kids Incorporated, as well as Little Wise Guys at the W.C. Blair Recreation Centre and Wee Willow Bees at the Willoughby Community Centre.
All three Township preschools are currently accepting registration for next September.
