The Achieve Anything Foundation is once again offering women and girls the chance to take part in activities they might not normally get to experience.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the foundation, which aims to educate young women about opportunities to pursue non-traditional careers, presents Operation: This IS You! - Day Sail on a Warship with the Royal Canadian Navy.

Leaving Esquimalt at around 9 a.m., the sail is expected to be particularly exciting as it will include the debut SAR (search and rescue) demo from the Royal Canadian Air Force’s brand new Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone helicopter.

Activities include tours of ship duty stations, crew quarters and operational equipment; RCAF joint search and rescue demonstration, ship firefighting simulation, and demonstration of the warship’s impressive manoeuvring capabilities.

Morning departure time will be adjusted to account for Mainlanders catching the first ferry of the day to Vancouver Island.

The event is free and lunch will be provided.

The outing is restricted to participants 12 years and older. Moms are encouraged to apply with their daughters, but each must use a unique email address.

The Achieve Anything Foundation “inspires female future leaders in high tech fields, from shop floor to top floor, with incredible hands-on experience events.”
