Ben Parsons’ life on Earth was cut short, but he was deeply loved, and will be deeply missed, by many.

The Langley infant passed away last Friday morning, June 2, seven months after he came into the world.

Son to Mike and Tina and baby brother to 16-month-old Jade, Ben was born on Oct. 30, 2016 in Langley and had the symptoms of charge syndrome as well as atomic seizures.

He was the size of a newborn baby at seven months old and was terminally ill before he passed.

“Our little girl has been hurt by watching her parents (go) through tough times, yelling, screaming asking why, why would this happen to a baby,” Tina shared. “He was so bright, so beautiful… I know he was different and maybe he wasn’t capable of being that of an average child, however he had something inside him — something beautiful. I know he got it from his father because their souls are so full of life.”

Tina added, “Regardless of his fate, he touched so many people. He made small things like moving his finger seem so amazing. In fact, it gives you a whole new meaning to the world.”

It was truly tragic to watch her son slowly slip away, Tina said.

“I felt it for a long time,” she said, “and it was enough to destroy a person. I love him more than words can ever begin to express. I am lucky to still have my husband. He is the light in which I can still see my son every once in awhile, and as for my daughter, she is my rock. She is so strong. I could only dream to be as strong as her one day.

Since Ben was born, the family travelled back and forth to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

“Every day is a constant scare, but sadly there’s nothing they can do but to watch him suffer,” wrote Chantal Crowell, who created a GoFundMe page on the family’s behalf.

While Tina was home with Ben and Jade, dad Mike had been working until last month, when their car was totalled in an accident.

Mike’s job required the use of a car and without one he’s now out of work.

“This fund is to help them out while they are struggling and spending all the time they have with Baby Ben, while he’s still here with them,” Crowell wrote on the GoFundMe page before Ben’s passing. “Any amount would be greatly appreciated.”

The family is trying to raise funds to pay off credit card debt and donate to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Meanwhile Tina thanked Crowell for her ongoing support: “She saved my spirit.”

And while the family is facing major financial hardships, Ben passed along an important message.

“He showed us that life is short and to cherish what you’ve got,” Mike said.
