Bowl for Kids Sake celebrates everyday super heroes

Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley bowling fundraiser takes place March 6 and 7. There's still time to enter a team.

Who’s your hero?

For dozens of Langley youth in need of a mentor, it’s the Big Brother or Big Sister who steps up and takes an active interest in their life.

On March 6 and 7, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley will celebrate its champions and raise funds to help more children in the community find their match, as they present their annual Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser.

This year’s theme is Super Heroes. Participating team members are invited to come dressed as their favourite super hero (or just make up some new ones) and enjoy a couple of hours of serious fun for a great cause.

Bowl For Kids Sake is one of the Langley agency’s main fundraisers of the year, with proceeds raised going to programs that benefit children and teens in the community.

Mentors play a vital role in the lives of children and teens who are bullied — as half of all Canadian adults report they were when they were younger.

Each year, Bowl for Kids Sake aims to “strike out” bullying by helping the agency provide one-on-one and in-school youth mentoring programs.

BBBS Langley is always in need of Big Brothers, with the waiting list of “Littles” growing steadily.

Anyone who would like to enter a team in Bowl for Kids Sake, make a donation or learn more about the programs offered can visit the website at www.bbbslangley.ca.
