The Coats for Kids campaign launches once again on Nov. 14 to collect warm jackets for those in need.

Held by the Greater Vancouver Homebuilders’ Association, the 22nd annual event supports the Lower Mainland and Surrey Christmas Bureaus.

From Nov. 14 to Dec. 1, residents are encouraged to drop off gently used coats, scarves, hats, gloves and new unwrapped toys at four locations in Langley: Benchmark Homes (304-6360 202 St.), Centra Construction Group (20216 98 Ave.), Country Lumber (22538 Fraser Hwy) and Trail Appliances (200-19888 Langley Bypass).

Clothing items for teens, particularly hoodies, are especially needed this year.

“The simple act of donating a coat to keep a child warm connects people contributing to a good cause,” said GVHBA chair Larry Clay of Clay Construction. “You can see the warmth and kindness shared between people as the coats are dropped-off and collected, and I think this is a reaction worth spreading.”

The public is also invited to the campaign wrap-up on Dec. 1. Taking place at Santa’s Workshop (Caesarstone Canada, 5555 Trapp Ave. in Burnaby) from 9 to 11 a.m., the event will include a cheque presentation, Santa arriving in his “excavating” sleigh, the Southpointe Academy children’s choir, a cookie decorating station and a hot chocolate bar.
