People are invited to celebrate Fort Langley’s proud berry history at the 17th annual Fort Langley Cranberry Festival on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The weather looks good and thousands are expected to visit the historic village for one of the largest cranberry festivals in B.C.
The fun starts at 10 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and continues right through the day with activities for the whole family. There are contests, live music on the Main Stage, cooking demos, a fashion show, more than 70 market vendors, children’s fun and the annual canoe races on the Bedford Channel.
The market is expected to be huge this year, said organizers.
Cranberry sales begin at 10 and continue until they are sold out. Musician John Gilliet performances and painter Brent Ray Fraser will provide a live art show in Gasoline Alley. Children’s entertainment includes Magic Show 2 Go BC at 11 a.m., balloon making, face painting, juggling at 12:30 p.m. There will be roaming stilt walkers, crafts and more.
Cranberry programs and activities will be at Fort Langley National Historic Site, BC Farm Museum and Langley Centennial Museum.
On the main stage, entertainers are Glisha Dela Cruz, The Still Blue, Elvis Elite and The Sea Billies
Some parking will be available at Fort Langley National Historic Site.
There will be a shuttle running all day between Walnut Grove Secondary School and the Langley Fine Arts School. Most areas in the village will not allow parking.
