Salvation Army's Gateway of Hope is holding its annual school supply drive for Langley students families who need assistance in outfitting their children for the upcoming school year. They are also accepting registrations from people who would like to receive the donated supplies.

September should present every child with a fresh start to a successful school year.

Unfortunately, there are many families that can’t afford the steep cost of purchasing the long list of required school supplies for their children.

That is why the Salvation Army Gateway of Hope, in co-operation with The Salvation Army BC Division, is once again hosting its annual ‘Backpack & School Supply Drive.’

Last year, Gateway of Hope alone outfitted more than 300 Langley and Aldergrove community kids with school supplies, including binders, paper, pencil crayons, markers, glue and scissors.

The community is encouraged to take the opportunity to include the whole family, office, church group, or service club and make donations of new school supplies and backpacks.

Donations will be accepted until Aug. 26 at the Gateway of Hope located at 5787 Langley Bypass, the Aldergrove Salvation Army Thrift Store and participating Langley Starbucks and Langley Staples.

Every year The Salvation Army sees a rise in need for school supplies. Registration continues to rise for Langley families as well.

Registration is required by parents or guardians to receive a school supplies package.

They can register over the phone or in person at Gateway of Hope.
