Just over $10,000 was raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters Langley at the fourth annual Grant Thornton Community Challenge Road Hockey Rumble.

“It was a fantastic event,” said Mary Reeves, the executive director for BBBSL.

“Everything went great.”

Close to 150 players of all ages — Reeves estimates the youngest was about three years old — took part in the day-long event on Saturday in the parking lot at the Langley Events Centre.

This was the fourth year of the Rumble, with more than $35,000 raised.

It was also the first time it was held outside the LEC as previously it had been played in the outdoor sports box at McLeod Athletic Park.

Reeves said the new venue gave them a lot  more room to run their event and also leaves them options should they increase in size in the coming years.
