While searching for paperwork Janet Rube found something much more valuable: $675,000.

The money came in the form of a winning ‘Set for Life’ scratch and win ticket that she received as a gift.

Rube had forgotten about the ticket until she discovered it while looking for some paper work. To her surprise, she scratched and won the grand prize of $675,000, just a month before the ticket’s expiry date.

“I called my kids right away to share the news,” recalled Rube. “I was still in shock myself as I told them the news. They are so happy for me but it’s still so surreal.”

Set for Life is the scratch and win game that offers players the chance to win a top prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years. .

This winning Set for Life ticket is the gift that will keep on giving.

“I plan to make a few renovations to the house but will save the rest for the future,” Rube said.

The winning Set for Life ticket was purchased at the Save-On-Foods on Fraser Highway in Langley City.

Every time a scratch and win ticket is purchased in B.C., it funds programs across the province, according to the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
