One of the oldest and most popular May Day parades will take over the village of Fort Langley once again on Victoria Day — Monday, May 23.
Thousands are expected to descend on Fort Langley, lining Glover Road to take in the parade and festivities that are now in their 94th year.
Celebrations begin at 8 a.m. with the Fort Langley Lions’ annual pancake breakfast.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. with floats, animals, dancers, motorcycles and entertainers traveling south along Glover Road and ending at the Fort Langley Community Park.
Once it arrives in the park, the May Queens and the Royal Party will be piped in, followed by several local elementary school students performing a May pole dance, as part of a century-old tradition.
There will be rides for children, mini golf, face painting, vendors and plenty of food.
There will also be a classic car show and shine.
There will be live entertainment in the park until 4 p.m. The Lions’ famous barbecue chicken is back. As always, parking is limited. Organizers suggest parking in the back of the Lions Hall on 88 Ave. or there is parking available at the Orchard at the Fort Historic Site and Evangelical Free Church on Glover.
