Free workshop planned on essential of downsizing

The two presenters will walk through the steps required to downsize and get a home ready for sale.

A free workshop on downsizing will take place on Tuesday, April 28.

For many people — baby boomers, seniors, empty-nesters and even those looking for a home that is easier to maintain — downsizing from a larger home can be intimidating and overwhelming. For those looking to learn how to downsize and stage their home for sale, the Murrayville House team is hosting the downsizing essentials workshop.

It takes place on Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Murrayville House show room and sales centre at 220-230 22196 50 Ave. in Langley. The free workshop will be led by downsizing experts Susan Borax and Heather Knittel, of Good Riddance Professional Organizing Solutions.

Participants will also receive a free copy of the duo’s book Good Riddance — Showing Clutter the Door (a $14.95 value).

In this workshop, the two will walk through the steps required to downsize and get a home ready for sale. Topics will include:

How to save on moving costs by getting rid of excess possessions;

How to turn clutter into cash;

Resources for donating the stuff you don’t want;

How to edit your belongings to show your home for resale to its best advantage;

Simple, low-cost techniques to enhance the appearance of your home;

How to create great curb appeal; and

Utilize what you already have to stage your property for resale.
