It wouldn’t be a stretch – by any means – to say a ‘goat yoga’ fundraiser held in Langley on Thanksgiving Day was a huge success.

The event was organized by Nicole Roy, a yoga and Pilates instructor.

Taylor Hart, the brother of one of Roy’s students, Kendra Hart, was diagnosed with Metastatic gastric cancer (Stage 4 stomach cancer) last October, at the age of 26.

Taylor has not responded well to chemotherapy, and his oncologist believes his best treatment option would be to switch to immunotherapy.

Roy wanted to help in some way, so she asked her friend and student Kenneth Ku, who keeps Nigerian dwarf goats on his property in Langley, and they put together a goat yoga class to raise funds for Taylor’s treatment.

Roughly 50 people took part and collectively raised $1,870 for the cause.

“The event was a lot of fun,” Roy said. “There were yogis of all levels, seasoned practitioners and newbies. Everyone was thrilled to interact with the goats and to contribute to Taylor’s immunotherapy fund.  There was an abundance of bright smiles and positive vibes.”

She added, “The weather was ideal; cool but sunny; perfect goat yoga weather.”
