Garnett PAC establishes high school scholarship

This is the first year that students who attended R.C. Garnett are graduating from high school.

The Parent Advisory Council of R.C. Garnett Demonstration Elementary School has established a $500 high school graduation scholarship. This marks the first year that students who have attended R.C. Garnett will be graduating from high school.

“As a group, the parents at our school decided it is important to continue our legacy of support and caring, well past when our children leave our school halls,” says Noella King, the PAC co-president. “We are hoping to make a difference in a student’s life as they move forward in the next phase of their education.”

The successful candidate must have completed their elementary education at R.C. Garnett Elementary, and have attended R.C. Garnett for a minimum of two years. The student must currently be a resident of Langley, and be starting their post-secondary studies within one year of graduation. The focus of the scholarship will be community service and so applicants will also be asked to submit a one-page essay describing their involvement/experience in volunteer and community groups.

Applications will be accepted until Apr. 30.  Students should contact their school counsellor for full details and the application form, or R.C. Garnett PAC via email at rcgpac@gmail.com.

The recipient of the scholarship will be notified before June 1.
