A new emergency department at the Langley Memorial Hospital is one step closer to being fully funded, thanks to the dozens of golfers who came to Redwoods Golf Course on Thursday.

The golf centre played host to Langley Memorial Hospital Foundations’ 22nd annual charity golf tournament. The event sold out, with more than 100 golfers taking part.

In addition to playing a fun round of golf, the event includes a tailgate barbecue, contests and food stations, followed by a full banquet dinner with a raffle, and live and silent auctions.

Each year, funds raised through the golf tournament go towards purchasing life-saving equipment for the hospital.

“Working with the latest technology allows our caregivers to offer minimally invasive surgeries and procedures, which in turn cuts down on complications, and improves recovery time, allowing patients to return home sooner with improved long-term outcomes,” the foundation states on its website.
