A Yorkson area home shows that Halloween can be a family affair.
John and Erin Lenko along with her dad, Don Scott, are hosting a spooky display .
“Our display and haunted house are for all ages. It’s family friendly,” Erin said.
The Lenkos have lived in Langley for more than four years. Their love of decorating is being passed along to their little one.
“We have a six-year-old daughter who has always enjoyed when we decorate the house,” Erin said. “We started off small in 2012 with a few decorations in our yard and have grown each year as we collect and make new decor items. 2013 was when we started doing the haunted house in our garage.”
Their Haunted Graveyard can be viewed daily 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 to 31, but the haunted house portion is only open Oct. 14, 15, 22, 28, 29 and 30, 6 to 9 p.m., and 4 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 31

The public is also asked to bring something for the Sources Langley Fook Bank.
“We are collecting non-perishable food items,” she said. “This is the first year with the link to the Sources Langley Food Bank. For the past two years people have often wondered why we haven’t charged an entrance fee. We do this for our community to enjoy, not to make a profit. So this year, we thought that perhaps we can all work together to help our community, and want to let people know that we are collecting food donations.”
Erin’s dad, Don, made the wood items – skeleton cut outs, wood coffin, signs, cauldron stand, fire pit and fence. John is an electrician and Erin’s a stay-at-home mom. All contribute their expertise to make the evolving display bigger and better each year.
“Every year we keep adding a bit more,” Erin explained. “We live in an amazing community that surrounds Lynn Fripps Elementary and the looks of enjoyment on the kids’ faces – and the parents, too – is why we do this. It brings everyone in the community together.”
