The official name of the little café is simply The Airport Coffee Shop, but it’s known to pilots around southern B.C. as I Fly For Pie.

The pie place with a reputation among flyers is landing in Langley, with a new location at the Canadian Museum of Flight.

“We’ve always wanted to branch out anyway,” said Judi Good, one of the three Good sisters who run the Langley and Chilliwack locations.

The plan is to open in Langley this Saturday if all goes well, serving coffee, burgers, sandwiches, soup and potato salad, along with a selection of pies.

The owners already knew there was plenty of interest in their café from local pilots, since a lot of recreational flyers from all over the Lower Mainland head out to Chilliwack’s airport to have lunch or dessert at the Airport Coffee Shop.

Good said for the first little while, they’ll play it by ear as far as hours.

They plan to open at 7 a.m. and will be open seven days at week at first.

While the smaller location in Langley will mean they won’t have space to bake here, they will bring in their fresh desserts.

“There’ll definitely be a selection of pies every day,” said Good.

The landlord for the coffee shop will be the Canadian Museum of Flight.

“All of us are on starvation diets right now, because we anticipate very soon, we won’t be able to fit into the aircraft,” said Mike Sattler, the museum’s general manager.
