A garage sale on Saturday is the first organized event of the new Kids Can Help team.
The newly-formed program is hosting a garage sale at the Princess and The Pea Bed and Breakfast in Murrayville, with proceeds going to B.C. Children’s Hospital.
The program was created by 10-year-old Sean Thomas, who has done fundraisers on behalf of the hospital for the past couple of years. Last year, he raised $2,500 and he has a goal of $10,000 for 2011.
People wanting to donate items for the garage sale can drop them off at the Murrayville bed and breakfast on Saturday morning.The sale goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Kids Can Help team, which already has 10 members ranging in age from five to 13, is also looking for more members to join the team.
The team will hold regular meetings throughout the year and planning ongoing events within the community.
The group is excited about making new friends, creating goodwill in the community and having fun.
