More than 20,000 pounds of used clothing was donated by Langley elementary students and collected by the Langley Township Firefighters Charities with proceeds going to the firefighters' school snack program feeding hungry kids.

This year's Kids Helping Kids clothing drive at Langley schools brought in more than 24,000 pounds of clothing and raised $5,000 for kids in need.

That's 10,000 more pounds than last year, said the Township of Langley Firefighters Charities who collect all the bags of clothing and spearhead and organize this campaign.

Funds raised by the drive will be put directly toward including more schools in the TLFC's snack program, which currently provides snacks during the year to seven schools.

In total, 26 schools took part in the clothing drive, which represents 11,723 kids helping kids.

For the third year in a row Willoughby Elementary took first place with 8.37 pounds per student.

In second place is RC Garnett Elementary, with 7.51 pounds per students.

Third place went to Dorothy Peacock Elementary, with 6.95 pounds per student.

The total amount of clothes collected was 24,795.4 pounds or about .41 pounds per student.

For bringing in the most used clothing for the drive, Willoughby Elementary won a barbecue lunch catered by the Township Fire Department.
