Some drivers received one-of-a-kind postcards from local students at a couple of Langley schools this week.
Langley RCMP members along with volunteers, and ICBC representatives were at Topham Elementary on Tuesday, March 11 and Blacklock Fine Arts Elementary on Wednesday, March 12 with hand-drawn postcards meant to encourage drivers to put safety first as part of the Think of Me campaign.
March is Distracted Driving Month and the Think of Me campaign is one of the initiatives to improve road safety. According to ICBC, distracted driving is a factor in 37 per cent of all police-reported crashes. Distracted means anything that takes a driver's attention off the task of driving. Often today, that's cellphones. ICBC reports that drivers using hand-held devices are 3.6 times more likely to be involved in a crash.
