CARES cat shelter in Langley posts adoptable cats on its website.

The public can meet some of the gang when the CARES Cat Shelter holds an Adopt-a-thon Oct. 15 and 16 at its adoption centre in PetSmart.

Some of the CARES cats will be there Saturday and Sunday and people can fill out adoption applications.

“Approvals are normally made that day, after having made an application, and occasionally the following day, if we are checking references,” said Clive Ellis, with CARES.

The shelter in Milner has many cats available of various ages, more than 40 currently. These are abandoned, surrendered, homeless cats and kittens. The cost to adopt depends on the animal’s age and whether more than one cat is adopted.

“Ours is a no-kill shelter, where some of our kitty family have been with us for years,” he explained. “Every cat adopted is vet checked, given medication if needed, tatooed, spayed or neutered.”

People who aren’t able to adopt are still welcome to stop by and learn about CARES. Donations are accepted to help cover the work of the shelter. Learn more at carescatshelter.com.
