Mother Nature wasn’t in a cooperative mood during Langley City’s longest-running annual event.
Cold, ‘Junuary’ rain tumbled down throughout the day, putting a damper on Saturday’s Community Day celebration at Douglas Park and McBurney Lane.
During the event, with the theme Country in the Park, people huddled under the 20 community booths, and the bouncy castle at the Kids Zone was scrapped due to inclement weather.
Live music continued under the cover of the Douglas Park Spirit Square stage.
Meanwhile, inside the Douglas Recreation Centre, the popular pie-eating contests and ‘cake walk’ (game of musical chairs) were a hit with visitors.
As well, Langley City firefighters helped kids through a firefighting-related obstacle course as part of the Langley City Fire Rescue Challenge.
