Residents of all ages and abilities are invited to learn about Langley heritage through art, learn some of the principles of geo-caching and spend a pleasant hour in a local park by participating in the Langley Family Treasure Hunt, presented by the City of Langley, Brookswood Seniors Centre, Save on Foods and the Langley Pos-Abilities Society.
The hunt, which begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at Timms Community Centre, 20399 Douglas Cres., will take a bit of a different approach to geocaching, moving away from co-ordinates-based searching and instead have participants follow clues, answer questions and solve puzzles as they race toward the finish line.
The event is designed to allow people of all abilities to participate and have fun.
Part one of the of the hunt is a Langley Heritage Virtual Cache: Teams must prove they have been to the site by answering questions about the locations.
Participants will then plug in numbers from the virtual cache to solve a puzzle, which will lead them to the next cache site.
That will be followed by a Nature Walk Letter Box cache that will lead to other cache locations and activities.
The hunt ends at Douglas Park Recreation Centre.
This event is family- and pet-friendly and disabled accessible.
Registration begins at Timms Community Centre at 12:30 p.m.
