Langley library branch looking for champions

The Library Champions program allows newcomers to Canada to help others learn about local resources

Langley libraries and NewToBC are launching their fourth Library Champions Project and looking for helpers.

The program launches this month.

People who are permanent residents but not yet Canadian citizens can join this program to get Canadian work experience while improving communication skills, making new friends, and learning about the resources available in the libraries and in the community.

The minimum age for participating is 19 years, and a certain level of English comprehension is required, said librarian Sarwan Singh Randhawa.

People can visit www.librarychampions.ca to register for an information session being held at Muriel Arnason Library on Friday, Sept. 13, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Or for more information, they can call 604-532-3590 or email helene.rasmussen@librarychampions.ca. The library is at 20338 65th Ave.
