That local library card isn’t just useful for grabbing a novel for summer reading or a blu ray to watch after work.
It can be used for reduced admission to the PNE on Aug. 23.
The Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) is part of Public Library Day at the Fair at the PNE. Thanks to a partnership between the Fair and Public Library InterLINK, fair-goers can get into the fair for only $5 next Wednesday by presenting an FVRL library card. The fair is always free for children under the age of 13.
FVRL will participate alongside InterLINK member libraries in onsite activities from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 23.
Fair-goers are invited to stop in the Library Zone near Toon City and Gate 4 for lively activities, or simply, to take a break. Members of the Vancouver Canucks will be performing scheduled storytimes at the Toon City Stage and after, will sign autographs in the Library Zone.
The fair will be an opportunity for the FVRL to spotlight its programs and unique features, including Library Live and On Tour (LiLi) vehicle, Sphero SPRK+ mini-robots, ukuleles loand, and green screen. There will also be impromptu storytimes, maker activities, games, and more.
“Like the Fair, our public libraries are a favourite place for families to visit, and an essential part of summer in BC,” said Public Library InterLINK executive director Michael Burris. “Library Day at the Fair at the PNE provides an opportunity to highlight some of the engaging activities that families can expect when they visit their local library. There is something for all ages.”
