Newborn Mia Calla didn’t wait long into the new year to enter the world at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Parents Ashley McFarlane and Chris Calla celebrated the birth of their daughter at 12:07, officially making Mia the first baby born at LMH in 2018.
Mia, weighing seven pounds, 15 ounces, is a baby sister to brothers Enzo, six, and Tommy, three.
Adding a daughter to the family is exciting for the Langley couple.
“It’s like having a new adventure,” Chris said. “We’re looking forward to it.”
Ashley had a Dec. 24 due date.
“We were a little overdue and they started to induce and then we had a c-section at about 11:30 last night,” Ashley said as she held Mia on Monday afternoon.
Mom and daughter are doing well.
“Everything went awesome,” Ashley said. “The doctors were amazing.”
And while Mia was born seven minutes after midnight, she wasn’t B.C.’s New Year’s Baby.
That honour belongs to a girl born nine seconds after midnight at Surrey Memorial Hospital via c-section.
The baby girl was born at eight pounds, seven ounces to mother, Manpreet Kaur Nijjar, and father Hardip Singh Shergill. She is their first child.
