“The Manners Lady” said a warm “hello” to local refugees over the past few days.

Langley Community Services Society celebrated National Manners and Character Month with Judi Vankevich, a family entertainer and educator, who did a special family concert and workshop on Oct. 12 during an Arabic family dinner party.

Three days later, Vankevich was front and centre during a “Welcome to Canada” workshop/concert for Syrian refugees.

The Arabic Thanksgiving potluck lunch was held at Langley’s The Onnri Church, and hosted by the Arabic Evangelical Church of BC.

“The kids and parents were so much fun and very grateful,” Vankevich said. “It was amazing to see how the Koreans had partnered with the Arabic church to do this for the Syrian refugees.”
