The Greater Vancouver Mustang Association (GVMA) will host its 31st annual Round-Up at George Preston Recreation Centre on Sunday, Aug. 25.

Hollywood isn’t the only town known for its combo of fast cars and movie stars.

On Sunday, Aug. 25, the Greater Vancouver Mustang Association (GVMA) will be cruising into Langley for its 31st Annual Round-Up.

Attendees have the chance to nab exclusive preview tickets to the upcoming movie Getaway, starring Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight and a piece of automotive eye candy — a gleaming silver Supersnake.

“It doesn’t cost anything to attend and is great fun for the entire family,” said GVMA’s publicity chair, Heidi Hunchak, of the event that takes place at the George Preston Recreation Centre, located at 207 Street and 42 Avenue.

The show will feature a spectacular fleet of Mustangs and some other impressive Ford vehicles, which hail from B.C., Alberta and the Pacific Northwest.

While it’s free to attend, donations will go to the GVMA’s chosen charity — Basics for Babies.

Hunchak, a proud owner of a 2001 limited edition Bullitt, finds the car buffs just as interesting as their rides.

“We have members from 18 to 85. Everybody loves their cars and everyone has a story,” she said.

Among car aficionados, Hunchak says, there’s a slight chance the star of Getaway could make an appearance.

“We’ve invited Ethan Hawke, but realistically, we don’t know if he’ll come. You never know!”

Gates open for the event at 8:30 a.m. — the public is welcome at 11 a.m. and onward. Mustangs from all years, stock and modified, as well as Ford-powered vehicles, except the pre-1960 rod and customs are welcome to participate.

Registration is $20 per vehicle. Prizes and special awards will be given out at the end of the day.

The GVMA is dedicated to the preservation, restoration, modification and appreciation of the Ford Mustang.
