New York cabaret theme for Langley Lodge fundraiser

Special raffle for guests hones in on Big Apple Experience.

Langley Lodge has organized a fundraising bash for Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Cascades Casino Summit Theater. The event has a  1940s New York cabaret theme, which includes dinner and entertainment. Guests will be entertained by the big band music of Company B Jazz Band.

“These guys are great”, exclaimed Patrick Matiowski, director of fundraising for the Langley Lodge. “It’s not often that a 12-piece band makes its way to Langley. The crowd will enjoy the show.”

Organizers have also put together a Big Apple Experience raffle prize with a limited number of tickets available for sale only to attendees. It includes airfare for two to New York; three night in four-star accommodation; Broadway show tickets for two; and $500  in spending money.

“The Summit Theater provides the perfect atmosphere for a cabaret and we recognized that it would be exciting to wrap up the soiree with a unique raffle,”said Terry Metcalfe, chair of Langley Care Foundation.

“Our fundraising initiative will help to augment the daily activities programming at Langley Lodge. The outcome of the party will be utilized specifically for horticultural therapy, music therapy and pastoral care," Metcalfe said.

David Cristofoli is a volunteer on the planning committee.

“When I see how well my mother is taken care of and how loved she is by the staff, how can I not help out as much as possible? I wish I could do more,” he said.

Langley Lodge is a licensed, accredited residential care facility operated by the Langley Care Society, a non-profit registered charity.

Tickets are $100 each and can  be purchased by calling 604 532-4200, local  4116.
