Langley’s mayors and the head of the local RCMP will be spending a little time in custody, but it’s all to benefit kids with cancer.
Cpl. Ryan Wick, Const. Courtney Callens, and Corrections Officer Rachel Kleingeltink, will be locking up Township Mayor Jack Froese, City Mayor Ted Schaffer, and RCMP Supt. Murray Power on June 23 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Willowbrook Shopping Centre.
The Jail and Bail will raise money for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley event, which funds Canadian Cancer Society projects for children with cancer.
“People can come down and help post bail for the guests to get out,” said Wick, who is a first-time rider in the cycling event. “They can also donate to keep them in longer.”
Wick said the team is training hard for this fall’s charity ride.
