The Fraser Valley Orchid Society in Langley is hosting its annual show and sale on Saturday and Sunday.
The show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, is a partnership with the Langley Hospice Society. It is at George Preston Recreation Centre, 20699 42 Ave.
It’s an opportunity for the public to view and purchase a wide array of orchids, from international and local growers.
The event will once again help support the camp programs that Langley Hospice provides for grieving children and teens in our community.
The support that children receive during bereavement can impact their health and future.
Children express grief differently from teens and adults, and may have different responses. These programs operate year round providing one-to-one and group grief support, in seasonal day camps and summer camps.
For over 30 years the Langley Hospice Society has seen an increase in children and youth accessing their programs. Linda Sheridan, the full-time child/youth bereavement coordinator has helped the society develop participant-centred programs and services to meet this growing need.
