Twenty-years after it was painted in Fort Langley a piece of artwork has been donated to the local historical church that inspired it.

Wife of artist Vojislav Morosan has donated her late husband’s painting – ‘Anglican Church’ – to St. George’s Anglican Church in Fort Langley.

“I feel like I would let him down if they ended up in the wrong hands,” Norma Morosan previously told the Langley Advance Times, as she worked to donate four Fort Langley paintings to a local business or organization that would display the work for the community to enjoy.

Now, the ‘Anglican Church’ can be enjoyed at the local church.

Before his death in 2008, artist Vojislav spent four decades travelling across Canada and parts of the United States painting historic communities.

Working on location using oil or watercolours Vojislav painted more than 1,000 pieces, which focused on public buildings and subjects in cities and rural areas – including historic Fort Langley.

Norma said her husband painted four works of Fort Langley, ‘CN Station’, ‘Wendel’s Books’, ‘Anglican Church’, and ‘Main Street’, which captures a red classic truck on a Fort Langley street.

Norma was left with her husband’s collection of work after he passed away weeks shy of his 67th birthday.

She has already donated paintings to White Rock, Vancouver, and several communities in Ontario.
