The public can take part in the second annual butterfly release.

Painted ladies will be fluttering around the Chartwell Langley Gardens area after their release at a fundraiser Aug. 12.

From 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, people can release the beautiful bugs and help raise money for the Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The cost is $10 per butterfly but people are advised to book in advance as bug supplies are limited.

The seniors residence is at 8888 202nd St. and the butterfly release happens in the courtyard there.

The butterflies will be newly emerged after transforming from catepillars.

This is the second year that Chartwell Langley Gardens has held this summertime event for charity.
