Visitors saw a very different version of Erikson’s Daylily Garden at the Langley institution's annual Open House on July 9 and 10.

Due to both the drought of last summer and the severe windstorms of the past six months, many trees were removed and replaced with new beds, the garden website explained.

Pam and Tom Erikson started the garden at at 24642 51 Ave. in 1987 and opened their doors to the public in 1990.

With more than 3,200 varieties of daylilies and 500 varieties of hosta, Erikson’s Daylily Gardens is certified by both the American Hemerocallis Society and the Canadian Hemerocallis Society as a national display garden.
