Lots of items that end up in the landfill are recyclable or can be turned into depots for safe disposal including:
Solar lights
Solar light batteries
Exterior light fixtures
Pesticides (processed through the Product Care Association)
Electrical outdoor equipment including lawn mowers, grass trimmers, chainsaws and pressure washers (through the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute of Canada and managed by Product Care Association)
Batteries (through Call2Recycle). Accepted are non-rechargeable (alkaline, UPS and lithium) as well as rechargeables.
Lead acid batteries (through the Canadian Battery Association).
Used equipment oil (through the BC Used Oil Mangement Association)
