The BC Renaissance Festival returns for its sixth year at Thunderbird Show Park from July 19 to 22.
Drawing thousands of people, the festival brings out a cast of characters and events that let spectators step back in time to around 1512 when King Henry VIII ruled.
There are the usual favourites of jousting tournaments, sword fighting as well as pub sing-a-longs and plenty of food. Try your aim at archery and other hands-on demonstrations.
There will be lots of music and events for children to enjoy. Take in Scottish guitarists, Celtic music and belly dancers.
Organizer Christina Carr said there have been emails and rumours being spread around that the festival has been cancelled. Some people have taken up a dispute with her, she said. But Carr wanted to reassure everyone that the festival is a-go and is going to be an amazing event.
The festival begins Thursday, July 19 from noon to 6 and Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thunderbird is located at 24550 72 Avenue. For more info on the festival or to contact Christine go to bcrenfest.com.
